The new identity for the Ancient City of Side: a design that bridges its rich heritage with a contemporary perspective.

This project stands on three pillars: identity design, wayfinding system, and exhibition design. We led the creation of Side’s new identity, inspired by the iconic columns of the Athena and Apollon temples and brought to life with the striking Pomegranate Red, reflecting the city’s historical essence. Alongside this, we developed a cohesive wayfinding system to guide visitors through the site and designed an exhibition experience that immerses audiences in the story of Side.

The color palette is anchored by Pomegranate Red, a bold nod to Side’s emblematic fruit and its historical significance. This is paired with a soft cream tone for balance and timeless elegance. To bring a fresh, modern edge to digital platforms, the palette expands with vibrant hues of blue, green, and lemon yellow, creating a dynamic and contemporary visual language.

Awarded Best Spatial Design at the 43rd Graphic Design Exhibition, this project redefines how we engage with historical spaces.

The Meaning

The name of the city “Side” means Pomegranate both in Greek and in Side’s native language.

The Concept

The logo design is inspired by the iconic columns of the Athena and Apollon temples in Side. Branding approach captures the essence of the temple’s colonnaded entrance, framing the rising and setting sun, symbolizing the timeless beauty of Side.
